Disaster READY Fiji

In Fiji, Disaster READY is led by a country committee of local partners of Plan International Australia, Caritas Australia/CAN DO, Oxfam Australia and CARE Australia in partnership with Live and Learn.

Disaster risk in Fiji

Resilience to climate change and disaster preparedness are priorities for Fiji, an archipelago of more than 300 islands. The population of approximately 900,000 people are exposed to a range of hazards, including tropical cyclones (resulting in high winds, storm surges, and heavy rains), storms, floods, drought, earthquakes, and tsunamis. The Government of Fiji recognises the importance of integrated climate change adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction and preparedness.
