When Kiribati entered into a drought emergency in 2022, the Australian Humanitarian Partnership was activated. Now, solar water distillation units are improving child and community health in the capital, and on remote islands.

Kenya is experiencing its worst drought in more than 40 years. With support through the Australian Humanitarian Partnership (AHP), Oxfam has been able to deliver multi-purpose cash transfers and drought-resilient crops, including sorghum, to some of the hardest hit communities.

With the support of Disaster READY partners in Timor-Leste, farmers like Elda have learned techniques to weather the country’s long dry seasons to improve their food security and livelihood.

Timor-Leste is prone to severe droughts, posing health, food security and livelihood risks to much of the population. AHP’s Timor-Leste Disaster READY program works with communities, government and other relevant stakeholders to prepare for drought.
